Happy Birthday Halo 2! We're happy to announce that version 0.7 is now out for Cartographer. Notable additions include splitscreen support, discord invites, and rendering performance improvements.

  • fixed the render pipeline to allow for and support split-screen play

Happy Easter everyone! We've been working tirelessly over the past 4 months to bring you one of our biggest updates. Notable additions include uncapped fps working properly, performance improvements, and fixes to ensure parity with the original game. *

* While you can run fully uncapped, currently it is still recommended to run at multiples of 30 or 60 FPS in your frame limiter ex:
60, 120, 240, etc. you can set it to your refresh rate or tinker as desired

Hey everyone! Here is a list of all new features in the new 0.5.6 update:

- Stability: Improved overall game stability. Over the last few months many players reported issues of random, frequent game crashes. Hopefully this update will help resolve these issues.

- Netcode: Improved overall netcode stability and functionality. The changes made will result in ping bars not displaying in game this was done on purpose.

- Favorites: Fixed the issue where you couldn't save servers as a favorite on the server list.

- OGH2: Fixed an issue where the OGH2 mod causes server CPU usage to spike.

Please note: the Network list is retired and will be converted to LAN play in a future update. All online play is through the ONLINE option.

I hope you all are enjoying your day. Since the 0.5 update we have had so much feedback about switching from the LAN netcode to the LIVE netcode. Reactions to the change have been mixed we decided to let both lists be available for use. With this update both lists are available for use and almost all features are available between lists. LIVE list is still in an alpha state and will be worked on to make it up to par with the Network counterpart, but feel free to play games on whichever list your heart tells you to. With that out of the way we thank you for all your support.

  • LAN server list reimplemented to allow players to choose between LIVE or LAN
    • We found that there are differences in gameplay between the two lists. There will be servers on both lists.

    • Saves and forces a selected refresh rate from the Carto settings menu on startup
  • Save mouse/controller sensitivity
    • Saves the value last inputed into the console and pokes it on map load. The default value is zero and the code does nothing if it is zero.

Hello everyone! Thank you all for being so patient with us while we fixed up some of the issues we had with the initial release of 0.5.

With the exception of voice chat, we are happy to release most of our new features

LIVE List
  • Our back end networking has been completely rewritten and revamped.
  • Previous versions of Cartographer used the LAN Network server browser as the hub for servers and game play.
  • This was considered to be a quick hacky workaround to get people playing with each other after Microsoft abandoned the official LIVE servers back in 2015.
  • Update 0.5.x features updates to the core networking that is similar to the original Halo 2 for Windows Vista LIVE servers.
    • As a result, we are now moving from the Network tab to the Live menu (which has been renamed to "Online") for multiplayer...
