REDDITORS FORK UP CASH, WISE TO DRIVE DOGE AT 'DEGA
Unique internet campaign puts driver in sponsored ride
Leave it to Reddit to get things done.
A unique campaign emerged last week with the aim to get a sponsor for Josh Wise's No. 98 Phil Parsons Racing for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Talladega Superspeedway in May. Not only was the campaign successful, but it now brings to the sport one of the most interesting sponsors NASCAR has ever seen.
Dogecoin.
In case you're unfamiliar with Dogecoin, its official website (which is well worth checking out) nails it down as "an open source peer-to-peer cryptocurrency, favored by Shiba Inus worldwide." Of course.
Now that we've gotten that cleared up, let's get on with the campaign. It all started in the NASCAR section of Reddit and eventually migrated over to Dogecoin. It began as an effort to fund the necessary $55,000 -- or 100,541,093.89 Dogecoins at time of publication -- to sponsor Wise's Ford Fusion, and they were successful. One user accidentally donated 20,000,000 Dogecoins when he meant to donate just 2,000,000 (a difference of $13,500) -- but he came through and stood by his inadvertent overzealous charity.
More than 1,200 redditors helped the cause and to celebrate, Wise did an AMA (Ask Me Anything) Wednesday night on Reddit to talk to some of those that made this all possible.

There also has been a lot of response via Wise's Twitter account and it looks like fan submissions for what the paint scheme might look like are being taken into consideration, which is even more awesome.

Josh Wise and Phil Parsons have just presented the r/dogecoin and r/NASCAR communities with a very amazing offer that is a win-win for everybody!
Every year at Charlotte Motor Speedway there is the Sprint Series All Star race. As Josh said, “this is a special event that is very hard to qualify for. The previous years race winners, along with the top 2 finishers from a qualifying race are the only people who participate in this race. There is however a fan vote where the driver who gets the most fan votes gets a starting position in the race.”
So Josh and Phil have decided to turn to us.
“Phil would be willing to race another Dogecoin/reddit/reddit NASCAR car in the qualifying race AND the All Star race at no cost! The only thing we have to do is get everybody to go and vote us into the race!!”
We have an opportunity to get Dogecoin and Josh even more exposure, and I know that we can do it. Voting is super easy and it only takes an email address to cast your ballot for Josh and the number 98 car!
