IF you're talking about Games For Windows LIVE, aka Xbox live, then yes they shutdown LIVE and ignored the Halo 2 PC community...lol

How long? If it's been a very long time, chances are the accounts been deleted. Try making a new account. Also, it says no cheating or you'll be banned.
